at this point in time, why on earth must you still link up the mod wheel even?? most other daws have spent time and work in developing their automation and midi implimentation. i just don't understand it. for me that's a deal breaker. i can't invest in an app that totally disregarded the requests for a rethink on the midi and automation side of things.. anyone else disappointed and can explain why this is the siutation?
i taught this was sorted out befor ? its takes about 1 sec to do this in fl you press two buttons and your midi its not that bad. you can even save your set-up as a Template so it opens like that every time you open fl, i have a m-audio 88 pro with 33 midi noobes and sliders all set up to work with sylenth so i can use the midi keyboard like a sylenth keyboard to make presets, you can save as many Templates as you like or even have 10 midi keyboard all working fl
@ Filtersweep, About : Simply follow the excellent suggestions provided to you by 'Momo', and your 'workflow' within 'FL Studio' will be far more enjoyable... *yes*
it's just a figure of speech i know about 'workarounds' etc... what i was asking was an opinion as to why you cannot use, for example the midi learn features like in almost every other app can. it's simple enough i have used fl for a long time and it's always mystified me. one reason your monosyllabic, purile responses are always so entertaining.. lol etc...
Didn't we answer your same question 2 months ago? FL remembers midi links on a project by project. I set my mod wheel 2 years ago with the method Momo and I previously mentioned when I first got my Max49 and havent had any issues with the mod wheel since (even through 2 iterations of FL). Now the biggest issue with FL with regards to midi is that it doesn't transmit midi signals back to non-MCU protocol devices. I think Studio One does this the best of all. I have my Novation Nocturn mapped to my mastering chain with plugin bypass, and next and previous plugin which allows me a nearly mouse free mastering setup. I would switch to Studio One for production (currently I use it for recording, mixing, and mastering full songs) if it wasn't for the piano roll and the fact that some integrated graphic cards (like mine) cause cpu spikes. I'll re-evaluate my options when I build my new workstation next month.
Another big problem in FL is no midi feedback data to midi contoller !!! In all other DAWs this working Ok ... HERE IS SOMETHING: http://forum.image-line.com/viewtopic.php?f=1914&t=897
that's the kind of thing i am talking about. and as a result you gain speed in your workflow. i don't want to have to think about the midi setup when i am trying to get music done. and, yes there are workarounds, but that's what they are which is another way of saying it is 'far from ideal.' considering how great fl studios piano roll is, it's a shame midi side of things is so lame. if you want to assign a controller it should be a one-click task, not around the houses like FL. and just ti be clear with our jolly poster 'one reason', when i say deal breaker this is what i meant: if you put all the available daws on a table and asked me to buy one and one only, it would not be fl. for me at the mo it probs would be a toss up between studio one and ableton. fl is a fantastic scratchpad, but i don't use it on proper projects any more where midi controllers and creation of arrangement is more important. which is why version 12 is after you take away all the GUI 'improvements' is ultimately a disappointment to me. they dropped the ball imho ( another figure of speech at one reason) ta ra
I was FL user for at least 10 years. I've had high hopes for the version 12 and I couldn't believe nothing was significantly changed under the hood. It was the final blow. Recently switched to Ableton and...oh boy..it was never easier and faster to come up with very interesting ideas. I never felt so excited with FL. Now I call him Workaround Studio.
