As most of you know, FL Studio 12 is releasing today. Yes, no more betas!

Found this video on the Image-Line Forum and decided to post it here to give you some hype!

What do you guys think of this version so far? What's still missing? What is the best update?

Fully scalable up to 8k Is there any DAW else on the market which has a fully scalable Interface ?

Its close but its at RC1 - probably 2 more RCs to go so Im predicting a May 15 release.

 

I want to keep the skin I'm using in the current version.

 

Didn't they just give us RC1 3 days ago on the 17th? I know Reflex said it was close but people still reporting bugs on the RC1. Don't get me wrong I'm happy if it's today but I would like they to make a few more changes like making the numbers on the mixer channels lighter in color. While I like the new mixer so much better I feel it's hard to read at times because it's so dark.

According to one of the admin's on Image-line site the release has been postponed until tmrw April 21 2015

 

it will be here soon, be patient, FLStudio - certainly worth paying for, free lifetime updates

 

Been talking to Scott on the beta forum, its nice to put a face to text lol.

 

Yeah buying FL 10 at the time was the best investment I made. One time price and life time upgrades. You can't go wrong.

 

I'm wondering if that's really essential for audio work, especially now when most of the high-end monitors rarely reach 5k and they're expensive like f*ck.
There's still something that FL Studio lacks but must of the other daws have it. A g'damn "freeze" feature, not just the old "smart disable" thingy

 

FL 12 RC2 was released a couple hours ago.

 

it's funny because people are really into the new GUI, but for me one of the biggest improvements is the ability to swing single patters instead of swing all of them.

however i was curious about FL 12, so i asked to an Image Line guy and he told me that the aren't working on the "freeze" feature

 

i dont know how many of use this but there is still no
beats per bar for each pattern like in 11
it was up top left of the pattern box and the loop arrow that was there
is still missing as well ?

you can drag out the pattern box to set beats per bar 3/4 5/4 7/4
but then when you press a pattern in the play list
they all go the same size on the other pattern boxs and its eader to big or to small
and you have to drag them back to the way you want them to remove the empty gray bits
or just to even see the rest of the pattern you made.

fl 11 changes each pattern to what it was set at
and showed you the right amount of pattern boxs for each pattern,

also in the rc3 ghost notes sometimes jump into the other pattern im on by changeing to green
and the vol of samples can change as you draw them into the piano roll and play them back.
then your also left with notes you deleted on the pattern box
and when you go into the piano roll there still there and look the same as the ghost notes gray
realy hope they fix this all i wanted was a new mixer lol

@Mostwest been able to swining single patters is a great tool to have and realy adds to the groove of things
that and the quantizer set to the mpc60 drum machine

I didn't say the new guy it's bad, but it's scaling abilities up to 8k it's not something relevant in present when most of producers still rocking 1080p's. 4k are rare exceptions, for the new Macs or high-end monitors, but it's funny when you realise that FL is Win only and they have to run bootcamp in order to use it on their Imacs or whatever. So the 8k thing isn't something countable as "something that other DAWs doesn't have" for now.

 

just found out how i was getting more bugs than i should of
i never uninstalled fl 11.5 i just deleted the folder
and when i frist installed fl 11.5 i changed the defalt install folder to fl 12
so it mested up fl 12 when i installed it,
needed to clear the reg frist and do a fresh install,

 

I just noticed that it's buggy with Kontakt...

I dragged and dropped Kontakt 5.4.3 [x64] from the installed VSTs sidebar and it would open Kontakt normally and I was able to load instruments, but Kontakt's channel was named 'sampler' (the default sample loader) and upon closing it I couldn't find it again. Its channel was opening a 'Sampler' instance that produced no sound. This happened twice (I had to create a new project).

The 3rd time it loaded it normally (normal channel with Kontakt's name that would open Kontakt's window upon clicking on it) but it crashed as soon as I minimised FL's window... (FL crashed along with Kontakt).

Then it worked...

Edit: It did it again. It will either completely ignore what I dropped and create an empty Sampler channel or if I import a MIDI and drop a Vsti on a channel to replace the sampler it loads the vsti and it still keeps the Sampler and produces the MIDI sound. The loaded vsti's window shows normally till I close it and then it's gone. Can't find it.

I guess I should start a new thread if there's more stuff like this... I'd hold off upgrading and wait for the dust to settle a bit. Something tells me there will be an update soon.

 

I also had a couple issues loading some of the heavier vsts in FL 12. Solved it by initially loading up a midi out. Then dropping the vst/sampler on the midi out.
Also flagged the image/thumbnail for easier loads in the future.

 

Having all VST/VSTis together... God. It's a pain to browse through/load VSTs. It's worse than before. You also can't add .jpg background anymore... And that after removing the "double-click to load background image" function in previous versions... Wtf?
