So heres the thing with these thumb drive scams, i bought one from guitar center new last yr, used it a couple times without a hiccup, stored it away for few months re-used all was fine! Until ilok updated there software/license Manager app
now i have a blinking blue light, and iilokisn't recognized by my Mac or Pc, I've read all over so many people with same issues, replying to buy a new one or just throw away to avoid the Headache as ilk wants 25.00 for a Rma and 35 to ship a new one back? What have they lost there freakins minds
they have emails disabled to answer any issues with there scam software corruption there hiding they need to be taken down or pay the price to replace all of these junk thumb drives/dongels folks have bought all over the world

Fails When You Need It

the most unreliable product i have in my setup. i have gone through three iLoks in 4 months because they keep breaking when i have a client in the studio. i never take it out of the computer, so the shortcomings can only be blamed on PACE's low-quality design.

Worst Product In Existence

These Iloks are poorly built and if something goes wrong with them you are up a creek without a paddle. There is no phone number to contact Pace if you have problems and their customer service over email is the worst experience I have ever had with a "professional" company. They take days to communicate, they do not explain anything, I was told last time I had a problem with my key that I was lying to them... I was literally told that I was lying when I told them I had tried what they told me to do to try and fix it and it didn't work... It took days for them to admit fault and then after everything I was also told the "free" Ilok they would replace my broken one with would cost $43 to ship. It fits in an envelope and they are going to charge me $43 to ship my "free replacement" Ilok?

First of course I would have to send in my broken one and wait for them to process everything, which means I would not be able to even open up Pro Tools for a week unless I wanted to pay $99 and have my Ilok account temporarily moved to another device (which means I would have to own 2 Iloks for that to even be a possibility). So just up front I was looking at $43 for the free replacement and $99 for a grand total of $142 just because their product stopped functioning properly. I have never felt so taken advantage of in my life.

iLok's new license manager is horrible. has left many users (including me) unable to use the software for which they paid. no phone support and spotty email support. it's been 5 weeks since they "unauthorized" my Waves plugins. When they get around to answering my emails, iLok blames Waves. Waves insists it's iLok's fault. At least Waves offered refund

 

Thumdrives are made to use.
Its not a problem with ilok but all usb.
The cheaper ones have a lower life, but all must end their lifes ahahaa
All my usbs ( excent the mechanical drives) I keep plugged because I really do not want surprises in the future

 

anyone that uses ilok etc is a fool...

I have Kingston - plastic thumbdrive 2GB, almost 5 years in intensive use, music, data, divx movies played on dedicated external player. I had 3 tmbrdrives from Adata, Sandisk, top ones(fast data transfer, metal chassis, bla bla), the controller destroyed. I have 3 HDD no SSD, i dont trust this chip based storage metod. Burning plastics till now(DVDs).

I hope ilok loses this...I have a elicenser and it is such a pain....this is why slate digital or any company that uses this method will never receive a cent from me

 

Ilok is a scam made to "stop piracy." All it really does is make people want to steal more. It is truly a shame. Good luck with your endeavors in taking down the man.

 

For reasons to the negative, I myself have never a) used software requiring an iLok, nor b) trusted the stability of USB drives/devices.

There is also the inherent security flaw (remote exploitablity) of USB devices:

The 2014 article at the link paints it as a recent discovery, but it had been known for some time before that.

 

there was an issue with ilok a few months ago regarding it's update, a lot of people experienced the same problem, not sure if you will be successful with throwing a law suit at them though (google), try contacting them, they may do a deal. I don't use ilok, and certainly don't support any company who uses other companies to charge you another fee to be able to use stuff you have already paid for

 

haha, take em to court, i think they intentionally sent me a usb that would break down after 2 weeks, its completely cracked and split in two with only tape holding it together now Do they really want me to buy another one so badly

Thank goodness I live in a country where the law stipulates a two year warranty for all products.
Although, I have to admit I have never ever encountered a flashdrive that stopped working. Sure it's the device not the computer?

 

I seen a lot of fried USB pendrives (i'm a computer tech btw).
A lot of ppl HOT remove pendrives, this is the best way to fry them.
You NEED to safe-remove them. If not, they take a self-discharge shot everytime. I don't even speak about data corruption.
And when it fry, it is not half-dead : it is plain dead.

There is no problem to me using USB pendrives...when you do a full backup sometimes

For windows, there is a tool i use to backup the whole pendrive image, even boot and partitions :

It creates a binary image of the drive. I used it to backup my hackintosh boot key, and try different images

About iLok 2 and dongles in general, some ppl complain and say they will sue dongles makers. But as far as i know, nothing ever happened.
And that's why dongles are still pumping money by billions...

Who wants to loose life cracking something just for fame ? On my side, i already loose too much time on computers

WIBU even offer money to crack their products...and nobody succeeded

I had a usb flash drive go bad, lost everything on it.

I hope I do not curse myself here buy My Cubase usb eliceancer is always plugged in and I have not had one issue yet. I do hate the freaking thing I know it makes the PC slower and also the software the way it is constantly checking for that device. Yes I bought Cubase got so freaking used to it after I got AIR's release.

I hope this is not off topic but it sort of is on.

I loved the software. I can say this 30 day trial will not even get you close to realizing what it can do I really think they need to extend the trail for people who are very serious about purchasing it.

 

I have a half-dead USB pendrive - I have full access to the existing data on it, but I cannot write new files, or remove files from it nor format the whole thing (tried every recommended program and even Linux. Strange thing.
