Hi guys, I have a cool idea that i don't really know how to make work

I've been getting into building furniture with hidden compartments lately. (i'm a child at heart)

and i want to be able to open one by playing a certain sequence of notes on my keyboard, so my question is this.

is there any way to maybe run a program in the background that will send a bang to trigger the compartment to open?
I'm thinking of modifying an old cd drive so basically just need to send an "open drive" signal.

any ideas would be much appreciated.
    cheers, vince

Last week I attended Musikmesse and found what you need:

It's basically a modular synthesizer that can be hooked up to all kinds of stuff to interact with the environment. Servos, other motors, sensors, you name it.
    Lots of fun.

edit: or you build something yourself based on an arduino or raspberry pi...

arduino or raspberry pi like fraifikmushi said.
I advice Arduino, because there are a bunch of analog input for several sensors, so you can trigger a lot of things with a lot of things
    Basic example :
    Arduino simple MIDI
