    Hi everyone,

If someone has an idea about how to get that 80's brass sound we can hear in this track from 1:00 til 1:09, it would be cool.

    Thanks,

I always thought they were played by real musicians, after which they got heavy compressed and delayed to tighten 'm up.
Samplers in those days were clunky, expensive, and mainly used by experimental musicians, like Yello and Art of Noise. (I'm talking about the Emulator, Fairlight and Synclavier).
Then ofcourse there was the Mellotron, but it also was an expensive and experimental instrument (used by Genesis and Klaus Schultze), and not for main stream disco.

The 'main stream' synths in those days were no sampleplayers (most populair were Yamaha DX-7, Sequential circuit Prophet 5, Roland Juno).
None of them have these trumpets. So i'd still say brass in those days was played live by studio musicians..

Thanks for your ideas, analysis, it seems very relevant yet I can't believe this is real trumpet, it sounds so synthetic ! ..even though nor DX7 or D50 and others seems to have these trumpets like you said : (

The Final Countdown is one of those power-rock tunes that could only have been released in the ’80s and everyone knows its distinctive synth brass riff.

Written by Joey Tempest, the song was conceived as an opening track for gigs (makes sense!) and a magazine interview with Mic Michaeli (Europe’s keyboard player) revealed that the sound was a combination of Roland JX8P and a Yamaha TX816 FM rack synth. And what a huge sound it is.

    @ Huehueteotl,

*yes*

If not, try to contact Mr. François Feldman, which is the Composer, as well as the Performer (in duo) of that Song. He's certainly the best person who can to answer you about that, mainly because he was (at the time of his musical 'public' life) the supervisor of all his Songs. *yes*

A last suggeation, in case this '80's Brass Sound' could seem/sound 'synthetic' rather than Real Brasses, would be to look at some 'Roland' Hardware Synth of that period, as for instance, 'JUNO-6', 'D-50',... which are well-known for their 'Brass Sound' of that period.

Yes, I realize that.....I just posted that to suggest Roland & Yamaha synths of that period....they are capable of quite a lot of different brass sounds.
The Oberheim is also a very good suggestion. In software, NI's FM8 and SonicProjects OPX-PPRO-II will get you there.

There is also the FREE VST DX7 emulator Dexed. It can import DX7 sysex patches which be found all over the net.
