Binauralizer uses Head Related Transfert Functions (HRTFs) specifically designed
to simulate sound location/width with great accuracy and naturalness.

    Features:
    - Full 360º panning with left/right and front/back effects
    - Intuitive 2D pad for simultaneous control of source width and position
    - Multiple input formats (mono/stereo/surround)
    - One output format (binaural stereo)

wait... is this one of those devices like Flux has that provides headphone users an accurate representation of a real monitoring situation?

This is a binaural plug, working only on headphones, ence
It plays with delays between ears, and freqs filtering to recreate spatial position. No acoustic tricks here, and not working on speakers.

Flux, and some others, use acoustic tricks. Works on speakers. Do not use HRTF. Not binaural. And more than stereo (7.1 and 8.0)

    Hope it helps ;)

so are you indirectly saying that Flux's is junk and Noisemakers is the real deal?
I just assumed that HRTF was just this company's gimmicky, trademarked, acronymed algorithm... since thats the kinda stuff these companys do all the time... like every company has there own "proprietary" method for recreating "analog" in the digital domain ya' know?
but I assume that HRTF is some "real" thing.

Might bing it sometime, but maybe not... :dunno:

    • HTRF is a general concept http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Head-related_transfer_function . If I'm right, HTRF VSTs simulate HTRF by convolving the audio with a HRIR to make binaural audio. HTRF VSTs can take surround input (up to 7.1) and deliver 2ch binaural audio out.

      Most 8ch VSTs assume 7.1, not 8.0.

I didn't find Noise Makers's: Binauralizer too effective for me, in fact, I like BD's VS better (And it's FREE) http://www.dontcrack.com/freeware/downloads.php/id/7200/software/Virtual-Studio/ . This is not unexpected because eveyone's head and ears are different and hence YMMV.

FLUX I'm not aware that they make any spatial simulation plugin, apart from traditional reverbs and FX (EQ, compressor, etc) which work on discrete 7.1 material (which doesn't count as binaural)

HTRF stuff generally doesn't work (well) on speakers but There is 1 HTRF VST I know of that has a speaker HRIR profile http://wavearts.com/products/plugins/panorama/ . It probably won't work well on headphones, and headphone HRIRs probably won't work well on speakers because of crossfeed.

The instagram picture - there is no need for HTRF since there are multiple (>2) discrete speakers. Could work as 4ch quad/surround.
