Grab yourself a FREE MIDI pack for Toontrack's EZ Drummer, which includes 4/4 and 6/4 half time shuffles courtesy of Toby Pitman.
There aren’t really any grooves like this in the supplied MIDI (or expansion packs)

    http://macprovid.vo.llnwd.net/o43/hub/media/1087/9954/cp_68ShuffleDemo.mp3

One is 4/4 and based on a John Bonham type feel from ‘Fool In The Rain’. The other is a 6/4 shuffle reminiscent of Bernard Purdy.

    Installation Instructions:

    - Place the MIDI Pack in your EZDrummer installation folder: Toontrack > EZDrummer > MIDI

    - It should show up in the browser under ‘User Libraries’ at the bottom

    - Don’t forget in EZDrummer 2 you can place these in the MIDI player and switch the leading hand (Power Hand) and
tweak the performance velocities in the ‘Edit Play Style’ window

Unfortunately you can’t use these in the Song Creator as there’s no way to tag 3rd-party MIDI files as yet

Included is a preset for the ‘Modern’ kit that was used to program the loops which were played by hand. It’s called ‘Ask Audio Shuffle Kit’
This needs to go into the ‘UserPresets’ folder. You can find the location of the user folder by clicking the ‘Manage In Finder’ option.

    I go toilet now.

Ok, that took some thinking... if you use a PC (and at least on Windows 7). Save the folder here:

    C:\Users\[your name]\Documents\Toontrack\EZdrummer\User MIDI

    And it works!!!

    Thanks Dingus.

PS: What's really weird is that there are quite a few folders there that are empty...

Well that depends on WHERE you have Ez drummer installed..

I have Ez drummer installed on a different harddrive then C as i have all my superior drums there aswell mine is installed on G:\Vst Content\Toontrack\EZdrummer\MIDI

And also no need to "use" the "user midi" folder you can put them anywhere in the root midifolder Ez drummer,Superior and Ez player will see those as long as they are in the root midi folder
I have all those Odd Groove and XLN AD midis and some midi from Stulys Cakewalk and many other midi loops in the root midi folder and they are working fine

Good point. I have the EZDrummer bits on the default locations but every other library (SD, AD, BFD, Kontakt, etc) on a separate one. Good on you for pointing it out.

Out of curiosity, do you have a favorite between EZ, SD, AD, BFD, etc?

For quick writin and testing I use EZD2, for fine-tuning and finalising SD2. I just started using BFD, but haven't given it enough time. Have you used it? any good?

As much as I try, AD just doesn't do it for me.

I am also a BFD virgin, but I'd like to pop my cherry. I've tried Addictive Drums 2 - there are some limitations there that required some additional legwork for me to get close to where I wanted to be. I own (all legit) EZD2 - quick and EZ, but again - limited in scope. I also own (legit) all of the NI shit - Vintage Drummer/50's/60,/70's/80's/Studio Drummer/Modern Drummer/Prehistoric Ape Man Drummer/Drum Lab...and I'm not particularly fond of any of them.

I am very curious about Superior Drummer. But I don't wish to lay out that kind of cash for yet another drum library - unless it's something special. Is it?

Superior Drummer is more than just a drum library. It's more about its capabilities than anything else. Have a look at the videos on the Toontrack website (not the main videos, but the ones you browse through) or their YouTube channel. They explain a lot there.

I believe in try before you buy. If I like something, I buy it. If I don't, I delete it. What's the point of keeping it? I made a big mistake by blindly buying "Metal Foundry", I hardly use it. What I'm saving money for is "Metal Machinery", although I'd like to try it first too. I like buying my stuff as well, but I can't buy too much because 1) It's just a hobby; and 2) my wife would kill me. Hahahahaha!
