As an apple user, even I think this sucks. Yes, it will be implemented as a new instrument in Logic, which I don't feel like using all the time... ug... Logic is pretty damn good, but to force people to use it is bullshit.

and the redmatica ip FINALLY showed up in the new MainStage a month or so ago, after 3 years of nebulous speculation..... so even if it does show up in Logic etc, it looks like it might be awhile, and sadly we will have probably almost forgotten about it ..... I feel bad for those who dropped some serious coin on them recently and some of the expensive expansion packs.... Alchemy was not cheap when you started factoring all sorts of things in....

alas.... as Cat said, r.i.p. alchemy....

(I always wondered how they got away using that name anyways as Alchemy was the name of a sample management tool back in the late 80's early 90's for macintosh... a means to convert stuff from your mac to your emax or s900 etc, after doing truncation and some simple DSP on your little lunchbox mac etc...:)

    Hmmm...

...kind of like 2002 all over again!!!

Remember when Apple bought Emagic in 2002 and swiftly dropped support for Windows? I think that Logic v5 was the last for Windows users. Logic v6 up was Apple only. I remember the miffed user base who had just purchased Logic for Windows when this happened and they were literally left pissing in the wind.

Apple will probably roll it into a Logic Pro X update, as a bundled instrument, within the year or perhaps months. Or they might charge for it as an add-on to Logic via their store.

I wonder if Camel Audio was losing $$$ and opened their sale up to not only Apple but perhaps Native Instruments, Ableton and others - highest bidder won???

Yes, as others here have already pointed out, it is a sad day for Camel Audio and more importantly their user base for Windows users.

From what I have read BigEmptySky, is that their financials were just fine, just apple gave them an offer they could not refuse!

lucky i switchd to mac in may.. YES!!!

tbh though... apple is shady, and they will make move that forces people to buy mac if they want to use any new camel stuff... till then, i have backedup my akchemy stuff, and got some soundlibe's for next to nuthin on 2nd hand market. Pretty happy bout that.

Apple are not soft devs, whatever ppl say.
They use soft (and OS) to sell their hardware.

They dropped Aperture (and much other). I guess they will drop FinalCutPro soon. And may be Logic in less than 3 years :bleh:
Because they sell hardware, and not so much users buy Macs for music making, against ppl buying them for every day tasks.
Safari is a keeper to them, not Logic, FPX or Aperture. Even less Camel code...

So to me, Camel is just plain dead today. Apple can do what they want with the code now...even keeping it in a safe deposit box like Aperture's features you will never see in Photos.

How many companies they bought, doing nothing with them at the end ? It remembers me when Avid acquired M-Audio. They pumped it to the bones, and left it dead walking.

So, there is no way i will see companies aquired by monsters as good news. Yes, i'm a fu*in communist
