Hay guys Merry early X-mas to all I might not be on tomorrow. Hay guys I got a little problem with Pro tools m-powered 8.0.5 as I'm recording or playing-back I get this error message pro tools is unable to reacquire hardware and must now exit. It gives me another error but still a hardware error when I change change buffer size. you guys have helped me before so I know one of you will now what to do thank you guys for you time.

 

What kind of hardware do you use? What's your soundcard?

 

It's a m-audio fast track pro and my computer is a i mac 10.6.8 3.06 intel core i3 4 GB 1333 MHz DDr3. Any idea what it could be?

 

First thing you need to do is determine if the problem is a Pro Tools issue, or a Interface issue.
Is the audio interface working for all other standalone devices ? (iTunes, or any other standalone Plugins ?)
Did you try powering down the computer and interface, unplug all USB & FW connections and reconnect ?
Did you install any other drivers recently ? You might try re-installing or updating the M-Audio driver for the interface.

I assume you preformed a search for the error string 'pro tools is unable to reacquire hardware and must now exit', yes ?
Was there a specific error code with the message ? (ie: -6008)

Its happened to me to with external firewire or usb sound device, i power off unit and power back on again and Whoola all is good again Weird though
BTW it looks like no Protools 10 HD From Sanata this year Weeping ):

 

some models of the m-boxes have crappy power, the connection lost can mean it lost power.
