Any one notice the decline of quality kontakt sample libraries ?

    Seems like all The library tested in the last 6 months are just Crap.
    Seems more often than not All these libraries are "Autosampled" from other libraries.

    I will have to disagree: Spitfire Audio are still making top notch stuff.

    I think jakempc has a point. I think it's true that we expect any new Kontakt library/VST to be of a high quality, but we are seeing more and more average Kontakt releases, and I think the reason is that more people are learning how to make Kontakt libraries/VSTs, and with so many around we must lower our expectations a bit.

    yeah, I think there has been some amazing stuff, I know OUTPUT:REV is older, but the Soniccouture stuff is great, The Sound Dust stuff is fucking great, etc... We have just gotten spoiled.... :)

    Theres tons of great shit out there.. my God, how many libraries do u need? haha

    if u cant make ANY and EVERY kind of music sound professional with whats already been made.. then maybe .. take up oil painting... or birdwatching *yes*

    I think there are many good libraries out now, but I find myself misled by the sound demos that accompany many libraries. Many of the libraries have fully produced and polished demo songs. They're nice to listen to, but with a few exceptions, I find myself disapointed after I have tried them out. However, this being said, I do find myself being absolutely blown away by some of the libraries I have tried. What I mean is, being the novice that I am, if I can get a library to sound decent then I figure it has to be a pretty good one. :rofl:

    There's some top-class stuff for what I'm interested in. Though it's not that recent but still available at AOZ.
    There's some really nice stuff for Propellerheads Reason and UVI stuff that I'd like but not available from warez(yet).

    you just have to be more careful in choosing the better libraries, thank goodness for AZ "try, before you buy crap" :wink:

    Avoid the bad (?) ones, stick with the good (?) ones, pray for the (your) perfect one. Problem solved.

    I find many libraries to be very good, but it depends on what we expect...

    127 layers?, 10 mics, 1 Tb drive just for two libraries? ... if so, than Yes, there is room for improvement, of course, but for the actual "standard" I find most of them good and enjoyable.

    Lately I tried the Fazioli library, the Galaxy and the Ivory... well, I was astonished :wow:
    ...not to mention the few orchestra ones like Cinesamples, Project Sam and a few others... they are not my thing, but I must say that they sounded superb to me... I can not even imagine how much work was involved creating them

    If I just think about the time when we gigged with the "Roland/Edirol Sound Canvas" and we hit the jackpot if we were lucky enough to have the VE-RD1 expansion card; than, this that we have now is Space technology *yes*

    The developers are beating the guys from the space program :thumbsup: :bow:

    Heh, I could say all sample-based libraries are "bad". :bleh:
    Having a limited number of alternating samples that once the cycle is depleted sounds the same. Engineers waste their time and resources hiring musicians to record static samples, that might fool novices, but what good, expression-wise is single take of legato transition layered over sustain sample? How does that actually resemble real life situation?
    How many RRs are "enough" to fool your listener into thinking "yes, this sounds real"?
    How many velocity layers does it take, with the help of smart x-fade curves, to immitate the sound of certain instrument?

    Yes, the sound is almost there. Yet I still fail to see the real value of such products.
    They cost immense amounts of dedication and resources. But is the result worth it?

    And they sell these "sample libraries" for hundreds of dollars. :wow:

    most listeners are easily fooled. especially if the sampled instrument is part of a complete mix.

    Maybe this may be an indication of your talent level??? I mean if the audio demos use the library and they sound good then why can you not make music that sounds good? Maybe it is a case of bad workman blaming his tools.
