Hi guys,

I'm just working on a Track where I got some stabs, which are very deep about 100-150 Hz .. and my Subbass gives them no chance to hear them at all .. at the moment I tried with PS22 Stereo Spreader to spread the sound thats its not that mono to hear the difference from the Mono-Subbass-Area .. it works really well!

Are there any plugins that add upper harmonics, just like Lowender does with adding more Harmonics to the Bass area?
I need something like this just in the other direction (Mid-High Section)!

Other recommendations are welcome !

By the way, and even if not the main goal of your Request, if you use some 'Synth VSTi Instruments' from time to time, 'Additive Synthesis' is the best type of 'Synthesis' to add 'Upper Harmonics' ('Partials') to any kind of Sound. *yes*

If a sound doesn't work in the mix, change it. Better than to try "repairing" it.

At a first glance, and above all, if I well understand what 'AMERICUH' is looking for... is to add some 'Upper Harmonics' to an existing Sound (by essence, rather 'Low'), hence my surprise about some suggestions as can be :

Upper harmonics in the high and mid areas: Multiband comp/exciter

Y'all forgot Waves Lo Air for that picture-frame rattling bass.

 

Parallel Distortion. I do it all the time. When mixed subtly and done right, can add that missing upper harmonic magic while keeping the essence of the original bass sound.

Try with different distortion and tape plugins till you find one that works best for your sound.

That yellow curve it's actually the processed side while the blue one is the original signal. That 250hz side does it looks "the opposite"? i don't think so.

 

Saturation, Distortion would be a good way to go about it.

Waves Maxx Bass will add upper harmonics while cutting the lows. It simply gives the impression that the bass is deeper.

 

Or use Harmonic Adder to add harmonics to fill gaps between the overtones.

How about layering and/or filtering? You are making an awesome sandwich, you know.
Distortion can be useful if you don't want to layer, but can be quite restricted on the low-end. You can distort/saturate/overdrive the mids and highs (layers) individually to get a really good sound.

 

I had the same. Try Ozone's Exciter, use it on sub-bass. You can adjust "amount" and "mix" and type "warm/tube/tape/dual triode/retro/triode". You can achieve it by adding even or/and odd harmonics. Not oversaturate it
Try saturators, exciters, "warmers", distortions (they are harder/harsher, not recommended) etc.

I will try now all the techniques & plugins you ALL suggested.

 

I think Ill use them too. It comes really in handy this post, precisely I'm working in a layout of different basses arranged in a call-answer fashion that might benefit from some tonal distinction.

 

Sometimes you just need a simple low-shelving EQ to turn down the really low frequencies (which also eat alot of headroom), to bring out the lower mids, mids, etc. ;)
People generally forget this simple but powerful subtractive tool, and generally think in additive terms.
