    Hey guys
So Im quite into the oriental stuff at the moment, but I have no idea of the instruments they use
So I have a track here with a lot of oriental sounds... I will like to know how to make them, if someone know the instruments used.
Also some tips on the bass like, I think have a chorus and some delay but not sure.

    Thanks in advance

more eastern sounding than oriental, not actually too many instruments in the song, try searching for plucked Arabic instruments, such as an oud (a type of lute) to get that plucked sound, some of the toms are possibly eastern drums, definitely lots of reverb and delays, there's also a hammond type organ at the beginning, also guitar and bass guitar and a few fx

more important to learn the scales of Arabic / eastern music (maqam I think) as they don't use the western scales, they use 7 notes instead of 8

    a very nice track

here is the basic drum pattern for you to start with, song tempo is 119bpm

Really nice track indeed! The eastern elements in the track are from sample packs, simply because to get the real feel you need to record them (either yourself or by using a sample pack). With the bass part it's the overused-and-abused deep house fm square bass, with some chorus to give it a stereo field. The other parts are synthesized (I recognize a sawtooth pad behind the track and a detuned saw sweep at around 5 min).

    Hope this helps!

Indeed. It is quite relaxing.

For the bass/arp I'd start with 1 triangle (-1)*, 1 saw (-2) and 1 square [-2] [balanced] or Saw (-1), Saw (-1), Square [-2] (grittier). Then add more triangles. Then play with the octaves. Sub oscillator etc. (And lower the sustain envelopes - maybe about half will be good to start with) Or pick a plucked preset end edit it out.

The intro pad is rather easy. Sine waves... Two of them (0, -1). Take out their initial pluck/attack with the Attack envelope and then play with the sustain envelopes 'till you get the release/duration you like.

For the melodic lines just find some Arabic scales or learn the intervals and use your ears and it's done. Then you just play around...

Then throw on some filters, reverb, stereo enhancing stuff etc.

Maybe this will help, too: http://www2.zippyshare.com/v/AZTGD16X/file.html

And get something like this: http://www62.zippyshare.com/v/fHPNpsXQ/file.html

    Nice track!

Sounds like some kind of mystical Punjabi rendition of the Knight Rider main theme tune!

I can see David Hasselhoff parked beside the pyramids, taking hits from a bong and eating Turkish delights...

    Nice laid back drum groove!

more or less, I just loaded the mp3 into S1 and quickly copied the drum pattern into separate tracks below it, As I said get your head around the Arabic music scales and more or less any plucked instrument will give you a similar style sound with a bit of tweaking and fx

search for ethnic / world instruments for kontakt
