Hi I saw this on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jwdbUUac8uw&feature=plcp&context=C37386ddUDOEgsToPDskKuD-QiTpKcHwu8QPlBHv_4
and I was wondering if I could do this in Cubase 5.
I create a grouptrack and with "send" I send snare kick and bass prefader to the grouptrack, working so far!
On the insert of the grouptrack I put a compressor for heavy parallel compressing.
And now the part that I don't understand.

How can I solo the grouptrack without hearing the audio from snare kick and bass also going to my main audio out?
I just want to hear the compressed grouptrack and I don't want to turn my faders down because then I would have to mix them back in again.

I know I can also do it by copying these three tracks and route them to the grouptrack but I was wondering if it could be done with "sends".

    Thanx

    Stevie Jee

this shows one way to do it the other way would be to create an fx track with ur compressor on it and just send the
audio from ur tracks to it-to solo just solo fx track.

If you set your sends to act prefader then you can pull down the channelfaders and you hear the parallelcompressor alone. perhaps you can even mute the channels and their sends stay active.

I know I can pull down the channelfaders but then I would constantly have to remember the level they were on. And mute doesn't work, the sends to the grouptrack is also muted.

just make a new group channel he says to make a mono but i make a stereo group and then look at the top of the individual tracks and it say stereo out click on that and a pop up will pop up and at the bottom it will say group with your mouse hover over groups and then assign that track to any group channel that you created then insert a compressor/eq/reverb what ever fx you wont you can assign a interment or vocal audio track hope it helps you made the rite choice bi using cubase cubase is the best good luck

I understand what you're saying, but I don't want to route some channels to a group and put FX on the inserts but I want to send a copy of them to a group for parallel compressing.
So both the individual as the groupchannel go to my stereo out. But I can't figure out to just solo the groupchannel without hearing the individual channels.

I'm not really sure what you're talking about, but if you create groups or FX channels etc..
And on the left side of the screen, you can send the "OUT" to anything you'd like, and control it from there..
Besides this, you can do a lot more...
    Just have to dig deeper...
Make as much copies as U like doing different things and such..
So I didn't understand the question..
All is quite easy though in CB.
