Don't know where should I post this but however I decided to write down beacuse I had a problem, I just bought new Dell laptop and installed FL Studio 11 and some VST plugins. For example when I load Izotope Ozone on the master track the sound start to crackle and the CPU Bar Graph gets at half. On my PC I can load more than 10 VST at one time and it works perfect what is the problem

what sound driver are you using on both machines?

 

On my laptop I use Waves MaxxAudio® 4.0 and my PC I use Realtek High Definition Audio

 

Check buffer level .
Your system looks ok my only concern would be your is your main drive SSD or standard? SSD will help a lot !
Also check your cpu usage while running Plugin's. If you have a lot of background tasks running your resources are being consumed.

some ozone presets are massive CPU hogs.. id remove that.. and check again.

 

Increase buffer lenght or switch to Asio4all. From 0 to 100% i would say something around 50-80% will work best.
I'm not sure that laptop's cpu power is on the same level of dektop's cpu power.

 

You forgot to mention one thing about your laptop's CPU. It starts at 1.7ghz and with Turbo boost goes up to 3ghz.

Load Ozone, when its cracking check the task manager to see the speed your processor is running at, it most likely wont be 3ghz.

Open the advanced power options for High Performance setting, Processor performance core parking, Set it to 0% for plugged in, Set Minimum processor state to 100%, and make sure Maximum processor state is set to 100%.

These settings will push your processor closer to the max 3ghz.

Use this high performance mode when using your DAW from now on.

FL 12 will have an option to automatically enable it when you open it and disable it when you close it.

I use a laptop with a CPU similar in benchmark score to yours and Ozone 6 hits about 35% with all modules activated.
However I'm using an audio interface with a 512 buffer.

The difference between your PC and Laptop is the power management options (PCs run at max since they have unlimited power supply) and that your PC is quad core and your laptop is dual core. simple calculation,
# of cores X processor speed

PC= 12ghz
Latop= 3.4 (with the settings I mentioned should get to 5-6ghz)

 

12 ghz?! Is this a nasa pc? I have also and old laptop amd turion x2 @2.00 in wich cpu0 is 1.5 ghz and cpu1 is 0.5 ghz. Is not a 4 ghz cpu...

 

And yesterday i discovered to tick Pull-Modus or set Buffer-Offset more than 0 ms in Asio 4 All to get better performance.

I have i5-4670k(not overclocked), 16GB RAM on Win7 64bit. My Ableton live 32bit can handle 4x U-He Diva with 'Bs Deep Space Diva'-preset and 4x U-He Zebra with 'HS Argoblitz'-preset @44100Hz at the same time without drops/bufferunderruns (cracksles) @ 512 Samples (Asio4All). Maximal CPU consumption is @ 60-75%. One more U-He plugin and i get crackles although CPU load is between 46 - max. 86% .

In reality many more factors take into play, one of them being what is to be calculated by the processor and whether it supports multi-threading.

9 women can make 9 babies in 9 months.
But 9 women CANNOT make 1 baby in 1 month.

 

Desktop. Ideally it's great to have both but if you have to choose then go for a desktop because you will get more power for your money.

and Asio4all is what i found works best as well.

you could also try out Izotope Ozone 3,4 or 5, if the other fixes dont work for you.

 

Power management settings could be the problem with your laptop since all i7 are quad core cpus

Have you anabled multithreadh support setting in FL?

And wich i7 quad core desktop cpu (with turbo boost) is comparable on term of power to my dual core i3?

 

In your case, the OP's laptop CPU is better than your i3

The only possible way an i7 could match your i3 would be if it was 1 or 2 generations older, and since yours is first gen, thats not possible.

I think only an ultra low voltage i7 would could compare, so something like the ones in the 2010-2012 macbook airs. Or a Core2 Quad

 

I'm lucky that both Studio one and logic pro x support freezing wich allows me to run EDM projects with 120 channels at 50% of the cpu power. I think i'll use some overclock up to 4 ghz before switching to i7. Thanks for the infos
