Anyone got any idea's how to get this snare sound, been experimenting with gated reverbs to try and get a snare to sound explosive like the cure have on "Friday I'm in love" but alas to no avail.
Any help appreciated as usual

 

The upper mic was left as per normal '57' the bottom was 58' but in post only the bottom has non linear on the send.

Employees dreams, that´s all! The snare gets precisely that, the days, but not the nights even if the song claims something about a Friday love.
Perhaps a lemonade love at Pastisserie Valeri...Who knows at those stages of the fame.

Is it me or is this just a regular snare (top mic and phase inversed bottom mic) with some added room mics?

The Cure was my first real concert. I was 13yo and was a little scared of the older, stoned (and heavily make-up'd) dancing people closer to the stage. Halfway through the concert everyone was sitting down. Must have been a shitty show, or the weed smog affected everyone.

 

Sounds like a typical cure gig, suprised anyone was actually dancing though, All I ever noticed was people standing round, all Gothed up trying to look deep and meaningful

Snare's quite low in the mix but could be heavily compressed room mics but it would be a big room, occassionally you can catch a lot of reverb to the sound

I always found interesting how The Cure like they are so much fun, and live... BAPOOOOWN. Probably the two most boring gigs I've ever been to. The music was great, but they don't do much more than just play and the crowd was sooo boring.
