    Hi all,

It sure was an eye-opener googling for Vocaloid voices since I last did about 20 years ago :wow:
The variety - mostly Japanese - is 'stunning'.

I'd like to try some English female voices to provide backgrounds that are not just oooohs and aaaahs, in some spacey ambient tracks (with video) I've been working on.

I do this for fun. The aim is not to make money but just to keep me sanely insane if you get the drift.

Has anyone here experimented with Vocaloid? To give you an idea, I don't want to copy any particular singers but Enigma-style vocals come to mind.

    Thank you!

    You don't fool me. ;)

Enigma? As in Mea Culpa Enigma? Have you tried some vocal/choir libraries in N.I Kontakt?

Hi Baxter - no, haven't tried Kontakt. I'd like to use my own lyrics which is why I asked about Vocaloid.

Ok. You might just try Vocaloid then, or get someone to sing it.

I see you're an Advanced Member Baxter. Maybe you could sing for me? Then again you probably won't be able to pitch your voice high enough into the upper female range. WTF, I need another challenge - learning Vocaloid. So many projects, so little time! :dancing:

I can sing pretty well (worked as a touring musician for 7 years or so), and my falsetto is pretty good also. Jeff Buckley was a big inpiration growing up. ;)

Otherwise, there is always Melodyne for cheating (pitch and formant).

Very cool about your singing Baxter. I sometimes forget that in a forum like this there's a huge resource of talent and skills. Jeff Buckley was a mentor for many aspiring musos.

PS: Is that you in your avatar pic?

Does it still produce those artifacts when bouncing to WAV? Guess I'll have to check myself at some point. It's pretty flat sounding though; I wouldn't expect to get a really convincing performance out of it. It can be useful for background vocals or some simpler sustained lines.

Mike Oldfield has (on Light + Shade). But I guess he's not "here"...

i can recommend Avanna (from Zero-G) and maybe Sweet Ann (from PowerFX) as suitable vocaloids for you, nothing else coming to my mind.

Wow tlr125! A big thank you for posting these sample tracks. I was inspired by Sweet Anne's clarity, and the lack of that occasional Japanese Anime bite\edginess that sometimes came through with Avanna. Mature and mellow...love it! That's my girl.
