Hi. I am wondering if someone can help me figure out how to get this arpeggiated 8-bit style sound that you hear in the intro. Is this something that could be re-created with just a regular analog synth, like Ableton's Analog or something similar? If anyone can break down the steps that you would go through to make it, or even better could make a patch, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

    Gladiator 2 VST/AU

AR Sidmania is the exact patch.

If you have this VST, then you don't have to make it.

    Thanks guys,

I'm kind of more interested in the idea of how to re-create the sound from scratch, instead of using a preset. Like what actual steps would be involved in creating it.

I know a big part of the sound is the arpeggio that loops over and over very fast. Is this something that can be achieved in a standard analog synth or does the synth need to have a dedicated arpeggiator in order to create this effect? Thanks again.

I have this patch i've made on sylenth 1 if you want it so you can see:
Really tho it's just a saw with a quantum square wave slight low pass filter
And the arpegiated rhythm is 2 notes (+7 +2) which is 5ths to 2nds at a speed of 1/32nd
add chorus and eq to taste!
    Hope this helps!

Pm me if you want the patch for sylenth

Square waves with bit crush, slight phase modulation and reverb.

Cant really hear any chorus on the sample you posted, sounds clean and pretty much in the middle.

generally 8 bit synths tend to have just a touch of chorus. it just gives it a unique quality

There's nothing unique about a chorus effect. Bit crushing is far more important in creating the sound.

Do you think the arpeggio speed is an important part of the sound? It doesn't seem quite perfectly timed to the track. I've been trying to figure out what note or Hz value the arpeggio is set to. Anyone have any ideas?

The tempo is 120 for this song, but setting an arpeggiator to 1/32 is too slow and 1/64 is too fast when compared to the actual recording.

It does just sound like its synced at one of those speeds, if it aint exact though it may have a delay on the sound?

Also the pre delay on the reverb maybe making it sound alittle different?

Other users have mentioned the exact patch can be found in gladiator, maybe you should check it out for the exact settings if you just want to copy it.

If you wanna sync it up to the video use the "free time" Speed which uses hertz versus beats

    Fallacy.
bit chrushing is more used for leads. but in the "chiptune" era they used what we call initialized patches which are simple saw waves. retro synths also tend to have a chorus effect because it gives it a good contradicting wave quality. bit chrush wasn't invented til later which gave the ability for synths to lower their bit depth length, however this particular patch doesn't have distortion. also chorus has also evolved. but i think it is best to keep retro "retro"

It does sound like it though from the clip, funny because the first reply also was "Use the Ableton Plugin: REDUX" (acauaferreira must be wrong aswell?)

Look you don't need to try and educate me on synthesis, again your banging on about crap which is irrelevant anyway.

    Your telling me "Fallacy" then...

"bit chrushing is more used for leads" Bollocks!!

"retro synths also tend to have a chorus effect because it gives it a good contradicting wave quality"

More bollocks, infact pretty much all of your post is bollocks!!! I don't know where you get your info from but I'd change your source before ripping things you clearly don't understand.

"The chiptune era we blah blah" you even born then? (or even know where it comes from?)

Maybe its your age? Maybe your just bitter about what I said in the other thread I don't know but stop being silly. *yes*
