Whats good everybody! I saw a similar post recently on Audiosex, most of the replies were on the lower side of price.
Right now Im looking at some Bose Quiet comfort headphones for around 300$
my brother has a pair they're lightweight, comfortable, and the frequency response seems to be pretty nice.
I love working with audio so id most deff trade lightweight and comfortable for better quality of sound.

    Appreciate any suggestions

There is so many aspects you need consider first, before even can someone something advise you, because there is flood of headphones for different purposes. For example, what type music do you listen? Do you want create music with it? Do you need closed or open one? Do you prefer on ear, over ear. Do you like more Hi-fi sound, melow and pleasant, laid back sound or do you like more revealing, in front or even clinic sound? Are you basshead or want more neutral response? Do you have any health issue that can compromise buying decision? And so on and so on. Be more specific.

But here is some of over ears which are proven over time, they are good.

    And check this guy: http://www.innerfidelity.com/
He has reviewing a lot of headphones and seems had some experience. Also check his wall of fame on his site and youtube chanel: https://www.youtube.com/user/InnerFidelity/videos

I got a "Beyerdynamics DT770 Pro", and they'r really great... flat sound with no excessive and useless boosts on bass...
I'm a Trance producer, and at start every Trance producer told me to buy a Sennheisers... but i really needed a quality headphones, so i took a look at the headphones pioneer label...

You can get a good Beyers starting from 140€, and the price will depend on what you need (Ohm, open, closed, ...) the DT 990 PRO has it's focus on mixing and mastering... etc...

ATH-M50X is what you want, i make neurofunk, dnb and future garage, the frequency response is great all around, great for long mixing sessions and the bass isnt piercing but balanced in the mix!

Hey thanks for the reply sorry if i wasn't specific enough I would like produce aka (create) music with it; I like most forms of bass music Hip hop/Trap, Dub-step, ,DNB, Glitch,House, trance, electro etc/.
I am a Basshead but would want headphones that translate well to studio monitors and not exaggerate anything in the low end.
Maybe I'm a Noob Im not really sure how to explain Hi fi, mellow, pleasant etc i just want them to sound Crisp.
I don't really have a preference to on ear or over ear, anything that will last.
On a more personal note…. I don't have any health issues that will compromise my buying decision (that i know of, knock on wood).
I do make music a lot on the go. Right now I'm in Mariposa/Yosemite tomorrow ill be in SF to see my girl who's flying in from Az for a few days, then visiting a Buddy in La for a few.
Mobility is deff on the checklist

Actually, the DT-880 from beyer are the one they promote to be for mix/master....not the dt-990 (they announce them as referencing Cans....not mixing tools).

I'd go for the Beyer DT-880 if i were you. But its a bit more then 250$.

PS: Go for the 250 ohm version( they offer 32 ohm , 250 ohm and 600 ohm )

Audio- Technica ATH M50x are excellent a huge bang for the buck, the best headphones you'll find under $1000 and among the best cans at any price i have 17+ yr's of professional experience producing making beats turntablism engineering mastering etc i co-own an indie label/studio in the Bronx where i'm from i only Produce Underground Hip-Hop but it doesn't matter what Genre you're working with the ATH-M50x's will do the job - Prosumer headphones should not be used for music production because of the the way they are tuned, Bose, Beats, Grado etc might be flattering (casual listening, movies etc) but if you try to mix with them the result will be anything but -(the take away is that you should use the right tool for the job & you don't need to spend $300 to get great headphones for recording)

Studio Headphones Top Picks Top 5

Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Professional Monitor Headphones Closed - $169.00 (Top Pick Overall)
    Sony MDR-7506 Studio Headphones Closed - $99.99
    AKG K 240 MK II Pro Studio Headphones Semi-Open - $149.00
Sennheiser HD 280 PRO Studio Headphones Closed - $99.95
Beyerdynamic DT 770 PRO Reference Studio Headphones Closed - $229.99

on a side note the best DJ headphones iv'e ever used are the Pioneer DJ HDJ-2000 Reference DJ Headphones including the Sony MDR-V700DJ DJ/Monitor Headphones still used by many DJ's & Voice Over Artists etc i love the Sony's but Pioneer has reset the bar for DJ headphones with the HDJ-2000 the Bass is crazy they are loud & flexible everything you could want in a pair of DJ Headphones -

Whatever type of music you make give it soul let it breathe & keep it funky if you do that the groove will always be good back to you :grooves:
    Good Luck :grooves:

Well if i want to give you some advise, the best move you will make, if you can go to some local store if possible and check them out. Write down on list every suggested headphone in this thread, take with sound source that you will use with production like external sound card, amplifier or whatever you have (if possible) and go listen all that they have in some reasonable quiet room if possible. And before test take at least 10-15 min relax break so your body and mentality will be reasonable relaxed. Price don't necessary tell everything. A 200$ headphones can easily outperform a cans worth 300$ for example, specialy in some specific task that is important for you, like for example neutrality. They are all good or very good cans that was suggested here and most probably you will not go badly wrong with any of them(maybe with 250ohm cans if you not have enough powerfull amplifier and it can hapend some of them need powerfull amplifier to get most out of it). But as any human has unique ears there is unique experience. One can find some particular cans very bad, other very good, but nobody is wrong, they have both right with own ears. If you don't have luxury of testing then this is also not a huge problem because all this cans were tested already many times with different gear and for example ATH-M50x was proven to be good allarounder, average reviews are very good and they are closed one so good to not interfere with environment. To add to suggested list there is also Shure SRH840 which are preferable for music production and has good reviews.
