Lose the noise, keep the Essence...
Essence is the most powerful and transparent De-Esser in the world!

It's much more than just a vocal de-esser; it's a flexible sub-band processor that can reach in and invisibly
control any element in a mix. For the first time in audio software history, Essence provides the power to de-ess
a full mix with all of the adaptability and subtlety of hardware.

    Overview:

    - The most powerful De-Esser money can buy.
    - Psychoacoustically optimised to surgically and invisibly control sibilance.
    - Quick, simple, ergonomic interface.
    - Configurable from zero-latency, ultra-low CPU for post work to Linear Phase, oversampled ultra-high resolution for Mastering.
    - Dual-release Peak/RMS-based time detector for invisible operation.
    - Analogue-modelled single-release time detector for classic De-Esser behaviour.
    - Three-band sidechain EQ, and massively configurable Split EQ.
    - Per-channel or ganged control.
    - M/S and L/R processing
    - Large, intuitive time-plot.

    Sound:

    - Linear Phase crossover (Split) EQ
    - Zero-latency minimum phase mode, with Linkwitz-Riley crossovers.
    - Lookahead, dual release times, release hold, sophisticated GR smoothing options.
    - Oversampling mode to eliminate intermodulation distortions.
    - Full mixer section, with support for parallel processing.
    - Output balance for fine-tuning.
    - Upward expansion option.
    - Threshold, Ratio, Soft-knee and Gain-Reduction ceiling.
    - Variable Stereo linkage.
    - Complete set of Listen options for monitoring, including signal difference (output-input).

    Vision:

    - Simple three-control interface.
    - Advanced section for precision control.
    - Spectrum analyser for locating sibilance.
    - Time-plot to highlight processed sibilances.
    - Freely-resizable UI.
    - Mac Retina support.
    - 8 A/B banks.
    - Intelligent Undo/Redo.
    - Ergonomic channel linkage system.
    - Autolisten for configuring filters.

"Mastering Engineers just found a new secret weapon."

    Thanks Dingy! :mates:

    Evorax,
I found that digitalfishphones' deesser gives a result much better (simple GUI, it's free, but it does magic!). Also not-free iZotope Nectar's deesser works better.
    Now...Essence...maybe it is (r)evolution? or...?)))))))))))))

I found Pro-DS to give more natural results than Waves or SPL one. It's my favourite lately because it's very flexible, natural sounding and also oversampling feature.
I don't know how you can say that DigitalFishPhones's and Izotope's dessers sounds any better than Pro-DS, when i can actually bet that they can't stand against Fabfilter's tool. :bleh: (though i can't accuratelly pronounce myself about these because i never tried them).
Essence is Evoraxlution maybe. :mates:

    That.

Except that Fab Filter is not as bad as Waves. They really have ok to great sounding plugins, like their EQ and limiter.

Yeah please don't put FabFilter and Waves in the same sentence. :D
To me DMG and FF are at the same quality level, I personally prefer Pro-Q
over DMG eqs but it's just a question of workflow-UI, both are just great.
I don't need deessers but this look much more than a dsr, gonna give it a try. :)

    Quality => DMG > FF > Waves

CPU demand => DMG > Waves > FF

End result, I stick with FF.
But I would switch to DMG if I had the horsepower, especially for the non-linear stuff.

    Mostly psychoacoustic tricks. Nothing special.

First of all: Acustica EQP1 (Nebula technology, insanely good quality, hard on CPU-RAM), Softube PE-1C, even freeware Sonimus SonEQ can do quite good.

    *yes*

Yeah! Glue is way better than the Waves one IMO.

Also the Aural Exciter can be replaced by other plugs like VitalizerMK2, BBE SonicMaximizer, Reviver, Cosmos, P&M Clarisonix.

For pultec style EQ, Nebula-related stuff are top notch. The IKMultimedia is also another option. It kinda occupies some space in the hard drive though, probably the dev loaded a snapshot or something in order to make it more "hardware alike". There's also Native Instruments's Enhanced EQ.

BBE Sonic Maximizer is a good exciter, but rather different from Aural Exciter. Best used very [very very] sparingly. SPL VitalizerMK2 sounds more like Aural Exciter and doesn't change the sound as drastically as Aural Exciter. I think Aural Exciter is a bit too "exciting". ;)

Cytomic The Glue eats Waves' SSL Bus Compressor for breakfast. Even IKM Bus Compressor sounds better than Waves' one. All IMHO, of course. The fact that Waves plugins use so little CPU can be really important to some [many?] people and the difference in sound is not so big... however, I'm really pedantic about the sound, and sound only.

    But he's right.

Same goes for Sonic Maximizer. I'm not so sure about VitalizerMK2, though. Vitalizer is a pretty complex beast and works wonders when you know how to adjust it properly.

Started with introduction of the new Essence deesser.
Now again - which emulation of hardware is better...
Maybe here we should start "analog vs digital", "samplitude or logic or cubase or reaper or protools or etc."????
    Off-topic guys)

Best Aphex Aural Exciter "plugin" you can get for not much money: http://kleinanzeigen.ebay.de/anzeigen/s-anzeige/aphex-aural-exciter-type-c2-model-104/263896917-74-1764?ref=search This thing is awesome!

This is why I consider all plugins above 100 euro too expensive. It's better to buy the real thing and get it over with. How about Waves now anybody?
