i'm trying to backup ALL the data in my roland jp 8000 (never done it). I tried to do it just now, this is what i did, please tell me if it was right:

1.- Opened MIDI.OSX, set the midi ports (done)
2.- Clicked on View/Syxex a window pops up
3.- I configure my roland jp 8000 to be ready to send midi data
4.- Clicked on Syxex/receive manual dump and started sending data from my jp
    5.- I receive this message

I then proceed to click on Command window/Save as = I got my syex file.

Is that all i have to do or did i miss something? any help will be appreciated.

I don't use Ox but MAX for this purpose. However try to send back your data. If something goes wrong the synth should tell you
data invalid or something similar. It should not explode! This is my experience with casio kawai etc.

    @ Seves 91,

Unfortunately, I don't own myself such prestigious Synth : 'Roland JP8000' ! *no* , nevertheless and at a first glance, your procedure is correct ! *yes*

The best way to answer that question is to simply do the opposite of what you have done, as so well stated by 'Angie' :

I mean, now simply send back to your 'JP8000' the Full Content of that previously saved 'Sysex' Bulk Dump... and simply check if all the Data previously saved are working properly within your 'JP8000' as it was the case before that you make that 'Bulk Dump'.

Certainly the best thing to do with any 'Sysex' Data, and of course, with any item which relies on 'Sysex' Messages... *yes*

    @ Seves91,

:wow: :wow: :wow: 1 Hour !!!

    Certainly not normal ! *no*

In fact, it must take more or less the same time that it took to make your first (external) 'Bulk Dump'. This of course depends of the 'ms' (milliseconds) set for the 'Data Transfer' of the 'Sysex' Messages.
By the way, about the Settings of that time for the 'Data Transfer', in case that you may face some kind of 'Data Overflow', simply increase that time (e.g. if for instance, your System get stuck with a setting of 100ms, simply set that time to 200ms,... ). But maybe you already know that...

I think that something is wrongly set for the opposite operation, I mean, to send back the previously saved 'Sysex' Data to your 'JP8000'. Check this fact... *yes*
Maybe a trouble with your 'MIDI IN' and 'MIDI OUT' Configuration within your 'MIDI-OX', or another Option wrongly set within it (?) :dunno:

shitty joke. beat me to it. Don't get too backed up, and you won't need a bulk dump. :dont: - Back on topic: Does not Roland offer any help with this sort of thing? Why don't you ask them? A bunch of videos out there, also. Didn't look hard enough to see if any address your specific question.
