Ok, I love the dirty house kind of music, particularly things like Knife Party's blend of electro house, dubstep and drum and bass. I am using Ableton and looking to make this kind of music. Anyone got any advice on a good sample pack, synth presets etc to get me started?

I am asking as I don't want to endlessly download packs and have tons to go through. I would rather start with a limited palette of sounds and build from there.

else I would recommend to spend some time, use the Youtube search, get some impressions and try out ... in Ableton you should get some decent results just by using Operator, some parallel processing with chorus/phasing, bandpass and/or notch filtering and loads of compression/saturation/distortion/ampsim. but always keep modulating or chopping/patchworking. and massive ducking is important for this modern style..
