It's all about evolution:
forget gigas of samples for the benefit of a much smaller footprint with the same, if not better sonic and expressive result.

 

Exactly, recorded samples to me, don't sound like they interact with eachother, just like the physically modelled pianos (e.g. pianotec stuff) does, which are more expensive, but they worth the sound quality and also small footprint at the same time. Evolution nowadays is not based on a bigger size. It's actually the opposite. Most of the tech-based lords praise their "nano" stuff every year.
I don't say the sample-based pianos are bad, you can actually hear them in a lot of records, but if you have piano-enthusiastic needs, you'd go further than that.

 

Well...Productionvoices piano is more than 200 GB (compressed), so this one is not so big after all!

There is Vienna Imperial's piano with 3 microphone perspective and 127 different velocities so I wouldn't label this product with "evolution" and related terms because it doesn't add anything new or revolutionary to what's already out there. *no*
It's just another piano which adds variety to what is already out in the market. Nothing more.

I'm waiting to download until there are over 1000 velocity based samples per key and maybe 200 TB of data. That is evolution to some standards, more is better

 

I am going to wait till quantum computers and quantum pianos... Oh wait!
