Hi, all! Me again, here to try and cure what ails me...

So today I decided to make the change from Kontakt 7 to Kontakt 7.8, since Kontakt was just crashing a ton for me... Used the bobdule thing. From the get go, there was a little bitof issue... Windows didn't like running the patcher, and when it did this pop-up came up. (attached file 1). It ran at one point iirc... so I just though "fuck it!" and loaded Kontakt.

On top of this, when I load Kontakt 7.8 standalone and open a preset, they say 'demo'... not ideal, but even worse is that I haven't a clue what this entails, and no contacts who do either. Will this 'demo' thing impede my use of Kontakt? (attached file 2 has a pic of this)

As always, help appreciated!

 

Adding on to this: takes ages to load standalone version, and even the FREE LIBRARIES are demo'd!

 

time to have a laugh because we should stick to r2r version a lot of libs are not having no nict or bad nict and then we try endlessy bobdule and portable

But the thing is that there is so much traces all overt the place of files to validate the proper registration
That it's better to use r2r keep it clean and wait for proper NICT or just wait... for ISO installer etc...

Or perhaps time to laugh at your failure to notice this is just another case of antivirus deleting things.
Which obviously happens with R2R stuff too.

 

Bobdules stuff has worked flawlessly with my set up for years.
Make sure you extract to a folder, then fight with windows defender and tell it to restore files, and allow on device.
Install the software, then run the patcher, then fight with windows defender multiple times until it lets it run.
Then go to the install folder and run the kontakt button.
Fight with windows defender until it runs and then add a shortcut to it to your desktop.
Adding R2Rs kontakt manager lets me move my libraries around and by double clicking on the nicnts install them.

If you dont extract to a folder first, window deletes the temporary file and when you try to run it again, it deletes the new temporary file and never ever lets you allow on device.

I always find when Kontakt first loads a library it takes a long time. Then its not so bad. Dependant on the instrument obviously.

On a side note: I find the constant R2R sychophancy as tiring as the apple fanboys rants. VRs b unlockers for Steinberg have been amazing for allowing me to use the official Steinberg downloader to install anything. 2 small files (local license generator and Activation Unlocker) - I keep them up to date and again they work flawless. No need to download a patched version. I am thankful to R2R and Bob Dule and VR for allowing me to trial all the wonderful software to see whats worth buying and whats just a gimmick.

 

Ok so this helped WAY more than I expected it to. Just ran the patcher, about to run Kontakt Button. (which is already allowed since I had Kontakt 7! ) Hope it works!

I never use antivirus why ...

all antivirus listen to audio and flags it as malware or virus

there is other issues that are more about the win 10 OS ...

 

v7.8 is already dated. The "BobDule v7.10.1 Proper" should alleviate any issues. I simply installed it over the top of the incumbent version without any issues at all.. All 31 some odd libraries were immediately recognized and run fine. In your case here, since the current version was "crashing", you should probably un-install it before installing the newest version.

This is red flag #1 - it tells that the machines OS is not optimized for running scene releases. Turn OFF internet, firewalls, Anti-virus, OS updaters, etc. THEN run the install. More than likely it was this OS crap-ware is what was possibly crashing your original Kontakt version.

Since you were running an older version of Kontakt it might be that your nativeaccess.xml file is old and needs updating. Running the install and patch for v7.10.1 will ask if you want to update that XML file - hit "yes" to that one... All that is really needed is to install the Kontakt app and run the patcher. Everything works as it is supposed to that way. The "kontakt button" thing is not really needed and I never bother with it. Never had any issues that way...

Everything Bob Dule has released works perfectly fine on my system including Kontakt.

Is that on the BobDule website? There's a Kontakt 7.10.1 thing, so I'll assume it is until told otherwise.
