in theory one could do that, but it is an extremely stupid idea to have full sysex implementation in a plug-in, as 97% of what it does can be done much easier using plug-in parameters.

 

There are no .bin files to be used with Vavra and you do not need to put anything in this folder: Users/Library/Application Support/DSP56300EmulatorVavra

You download microQ OS version 2.23 (firmware) and soundbanks (both of which are midi files) from the Waldorf website and then put them in your Vavra plugin folder (Plugins/VST/Vavra/). That's all.

 

Pretty sure that was an inside joke for the long time Waldorf owners..

And @statik knows the only proper sounding Waldorf is the dark blue Q!

A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled phase III clinical trial to evaluate the superior sound of the phoenix. this study also showed why it's called the phoenix edition, when it dies it will rise from it's ashes reborn and fully operational. unfortunately this process of being reborn will activate the factory settings option. the technology just wasnt there yet that the user presets would also be reborn.

 

further proof of this can be found in the study, when asked if the participant had given the microQ a name, like some people do with their cars and which is just plain weird but i digress. nearly 99% of the original and 99% of the phoenix owners lovingly called their mQ "Jean" and only 35% of the owners of the blue 'clone' of the original yellow one called her"Madelyne" the other 65% found the question rather vaguely sexual, didnt want to answer and when asked why they started freakin out badly yelling "ARE YOU CALLING ME A SYNTHOPHILE??"

It did once you bought the voice expansion for it, and then you had a 'Micro Q Omega'. The Q and the XT had them as well, but unlike those, the MicroQ was 'dynamically allocated'. You use more DSP you get less voices. The Q and XT always have the same number of voices no matter what you do with it.

Did you guys see the yellow Waldorfs in person?? God they hurt..

@statik - they just ran through the Inferno storyline on the new X-Men cartoon a couple weeks back.. They took that entire year long saga and gutted it down to a half-ass 30 minute episode hah.

 

Open "Patches" tab, right click on "Data Sources" node, choose "Add file..." or "Add folder..." and pick the palce where presets are stored.

Done.

I loved the look of my Q (before I sold it when I bought quantum) but maybe the 20 years of aging cut the hurt a bit

 

If it was one of the 'originals' with the Nextel finish on it, I can't imagine it looked too great after that long.. My Microwave XT's finish is pretty grimy and dirty looking nowadays, and I'm afraid to clean it because its actually coming off in spots and I can see the painted red metal finish underneath where the rack screws go. The original knobs started crumbling and falling off awhile back, had to spend over $100 buying replacements for the whole thing. Now it has the same ones as the MicroQ, only with blue caps. I had a sticker on the thing for almost 20 years, finally took it off a couple years back so I have this one rectangular spot of the original bright orange under the power button that looks so out of place now.

 

How do you microQ-guys appreciate the Vavra emu sound ? Same? And same as what the usual suspects guys done with Os(T)irus vs VirusABCTI? Same as original, but without wires him, noise and DAC, ADC vibe?
