Pop music is broad term, it can be anything these days, which is a good thing, you can exploit some genre you are passionate about and just do more focused to the point rendition of it, something that will catch listener from the get go and give him enough to chew later on.

 

Today's pop music is different from old pop. In the new world of music, pop music has to be weird. Have different styles. The goal in new pop music is not the music itself and not following the old rules of music and using traditional elements of music.

Pop music now must be something the listener has never heard before. It's hard to explain because we are used to judging with traditional concepts of music, while pop music should be something that gives a sense of modernity to young listeners and gives them the feeling that they have entered new stages of life.

Americans know modernization very well, but other countries and other cultures have not yet entered these different phases of music.

In general, in pop you should not make music and try not to impress the listener with your musical talents and experiences. You have to create a confusing atmosphere that serves no purpose. Aiming doesn't work in pop music. Today's pop music listener wants you to just entertain him and if he feels like you're trying to give him advice, he won't listen to your music at all.

It is difficult for Europeans to understand modern American pop music because the goals and views of Europeans and Americans in the field of music are different.

If the conditions and requirements of American pop music are not understood correctly, the possibility of success in this field is almost zero.

 

America is a country of immigration. They are present from all different countries and cultures. In such a society, it is not possible to choose only one specific goal and pursue it. This cultural diversity has caused that no culture can dictate its cultural ideals to other people.

The goal is usually proposed to direct different movements towards a specific point, but the cultural diversity in America, which has been formed based on profit and economic interests, makes it practically impossible to magnify specific goals.

You can see this aimlessness clearly in most of their music. All these media and virtual space, which may seem illogical to many people in other countries, is a normal thing in America because people there have learned to live in pure aimlessness and mix different cultures together. These compounds have no meaning in other countries.

Most people won't give a new song by a unknown artist more than a 5 second chance

some tips..
layer your drums and percussion
add more delay to your synths and less reverb
i use mostly nexus and kontakt for pop.. i would say i layer alot in kontakt plugin synths, basses, pads on top of each other
the bassline should be one layer and mostly in mono or as small as possible in the stereo
use pads underneath the bass notes to add support and motion to the track
stack and layer your vocals
you can use urban or hip hop drums for pop most of them works (sonic specialists sample provider, or sounds in hd) check out big fish audio website they got so much pop sample libraries out there
add some effects for your production.. you can use nexus fx section or maybe some vengeance samples (i rarely use vengeance anymore)
guitar sounds should be real recording.. they sound way better when you record them real acoustic or electric... plugins really dont do it
try to pan your percussion instruments left and right
try to add plucked melodies beneath your main riff

 

i agree. 90s pop had more orchestra instruments.. more guitars.. modern pop is more synth more electronic and less guitar.. more modern lol

These techniques do not make music popular.

Popularization of music has nothing to do with the producers and techniques used, etc.

The factors of power and wealth decide to make a music or a singer popular based on their material and non-material interests.

I was waiting for someone to mention how to make contact with the centers of wealth and power. How to communicate with them?
