It used to be then when you ran a search on the sister site - you grabbed something ( for eg on page 6 of the search results) and then it took you to the part of the search page where you left off

Now it takes you right back to page 1 and you have to go throught it all again or scroll down to bottom and click on the page number you were last in

Can this be changed back to where you left off, or - at least maybe put the page number at the top of the page instead of the bottom so we dont have to scroll through page one to get to the bottom?

In the grand scheme of things its perhaps a petty request, but work smarter, not harder.

Apologies if this has been brought up before.

This probably because the URL doesn't contain pagination

    Code:
    /?do=search&story=abcd
This is the only link the browser sees, regardless of the page. So when you go back, the browser opens the above page which defaults to page 1

If the site supported pagination, the working link would look something like
    Code:
    /?do=search&story=abcd&page=6

Let me drop my 2 cents here regarding the search function on the sister site.

You have to search with the exact phrase for the results to show up, search is not like aggregate where it would also show you results based on the matching of the keywords provided. Any suffix or prefix outside of the exact term and search will not show any results. Many times searching for some specific stuff, I had to go to the official site through Google and find the name with correct spelling for the results to show up.

TL;DR, search works but it could work a lot better should some improvements are made to the module.

Thats fair enough if you are after something specific, but say i just wanna see what for eg '' Loopmasters'' packs there are - i can enter that in a search and then browse , so if i see something i want, and I grab then hey ho, its back to the start we go.

    however

if you go to a freq uploader like say '' Decibelle'' - you can go and browse through the posts they have posted and then when you see something you like / want and you grab it, and when its done, it takes you back to the last place where you were, not back to the last post the uploader posted like it does in a general search.

like i say, work smarter, not harder. It could be done in the past but not in the present.

So is it poss for the admin, or site mods to look into this?

If your browser doesn't support tabs, you could open desired links in a new browser window.

it works for all =)))) I do this because it more comfortable:
when I see interesting post in search results I open each post in a new tab and then read that post one after one.

this is the reason. and doesn't contain it because some symbols can be used for danger things.

unfortunately we had to take it down due to high db load. everything related to the search engine that is used at AudioZ (and here for that matter) is just wrong.

I can confirm this. I'm a backend developer and advanced search engines kill the database capacity.
It's kinda like using Acoustica Audio plugins on every track :rofl:

Dump everything to some elastic shards, use the elastic API and walk away happy

edit: OK, A fair bit of work involved but it's worth it. Lucene is a really good search engine
