I had 3 Mac Computers in the recent years.
Benefits of a Mac compared with a Windows system? None.... in fact, despise what majority of the iSheeps (Mac Lovers) say, if you have a new computer with less than 2 years, and running Windows 8, you'll find out that the Windows system in fact brings much more advantages that the OSX one.
Why? Well.... First there's the overpriced stuff from Apple (Asking 2000€ for a machine that actually haves nothing that gives that value inside), and the point were Mac OSX also crash, as any other system. It's the Design? Well, until now Design haves nothing to do with PERFORMANCE.
Many will say that the OSX is far more stable, but, again, why? I don't have a crash in my laptop for years...... And now with the new Windows 10, Apple have's a BIG problem in hands, as the performance in Windows 10 is at least 5x better than the OSX (Was already better with Windows 8.1) and it's already been proved.
But let's not forget the thing it matters...... There's much more stuff (Audio applications such as VST's ) to choose in the Windows world than in the Grey world of the OSX. Logic ..... There's plenty of better DAW's around.
So, for me, people that goes to OSX just "because" are making a huge mistake.
And the Hackintosh needs a very good machine to work without fails......

A Macbook Air is a poor example of a Mac for audio work. You don't necessarily need a pricey Apple desktop computer. An used Macbook Pro with i5 dual-core (or better) processor and enough RAM (or sufficiently upgradeable), with an SSD drive coming-with or bought and installed yourself, should run you well under $1,000 if you shop wisely. Some people buy super-speced Macbook Pros and "downgrade" because they need something like Macbook Air or iPad for their purposes. Specs in listings for different models on http://www.everymac.com will indicate whether the upgradeable RAM exceeds, in reality, Apple's official maximum RAM rating. That route will spare you the trouble and time of hacking-together a Hackintosh – unless you're into geekin'-out with that stuff, which I myself do from time to time.

As someone else wrote, you can't run Windows VSTs on Mac, though many DAWs on Mac will run Mac VSTs (Logic won't, but will with Blue Cat PatchWork). All this stuff tends to get really complicated, to the point of troubleshooting and messing around at the expense of getting any music done – so, my suggestion is to first figure whether you really need to migrate to Mac OS for your work, and if so, just shop around for a good used Macbook Pro (mid-2010 and onward, i5 or better). Maybe also have both Mac and Windows machines for extra flexibility, so that you don't really have to decide? I myself used to use Windows, but now say, "Once you go Mac, you don't go back."

I have to admit I like the design of the macbook. What if I wanted a macbook, could I run it natively with windows? I mean not in a virtual machine...

Yes, you can..... Just gives some work to do it, but it will be faster and better than the OSX itself

you wrong im very happy since a move to apple,no more virus, and for me audio sound better on a Mac,i use Paralles to run some windows applications like proshow, nero, the hackintosh needs a compatible hardware to work without fails, hackintoshs are nor perfect because even with the right hardware there still problems, but the fun on building a hackintosh is that you learn a lot about hardware, already builded like 10 hackintosh and only 2 hackintosh i had some problems like freezing, audio no working fine, but in the tonymac forum i can find most of my hackintosh problems..

some weeks ago almost buy an imac 27 early 2012,i sent the payment to the seller but after 3 days the seller sent me back my money because he thought i was a scammer:no: i was very upset with the seller but later when i calm down i told my wife well only god know why i didnt get the imac, but know im very happy that i didnt buy that imac, with my new hackintosh im more than happy.

Suppose our main concern/world here is DAW/audio/music one, I agree, Mac vs PC is boring old done to death thing, but strictly for audio is still valid one nonetheless and should be talked/stressed about, especially in on topic threads like this
